Who we include, and why

Businesses in the directory

A business can be listed if it serves 64157. That means one of these is true:

• In 64157 It has an address in the 64157 ZIP code. These are listed first.
• Serves 64157 It's nearby, or it regularly works here, like a plumber or lawn service that comes to your house.

Local franchise locations count as local. Online-only businesses, and national brands with no local location, aren't listed.

Featured listings and ads

• Every paid placement is labeled "Sponsored." Paying never changes what we report.
• Each category has up to 3 featured spots. Businesses located in 64157 get first claim on them.
• Every ad has to pass one test: would a 64157 neighbor find this useful?
• Real estate and lending ads are welcome on the same terms as everyone else, and must follow fair housing rules.

Ads we don't accept

• Payday, title, or similar high-cost loans
• Multi-level marketing or "be your own boss" recruiting
• Crypto, investment, or get-rich offers
• Vape and smoke shops
• Political candidate or ballot campaign ads

Residents and guest writers

• Residents of 64157 and the neighboring ZIPs (64155, 64156, 64158, and 64068) are welcome to send tips, events, and guest posts.
• Most of each issue is about 64157 itself. Items from neighboring ZIPs are tagged with their ZIP.
• Posts run under a real first name and neighborhood. We don't publish anonymous posts.
• A person edits everything before it runs. We may shorten posts or ask questions first.

Interviews

• Interviews run as a written story. Some also include a short video.
• Everyone we interview signs a simple media release first. A parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18.
• Interviews are condensed and edited for clarity, never to change what someone meant.

Mistakes

If we get something wrong, tell us. We fix it and note the correction.
